I was at the school board meeting tonight. Sadly, I was not one of those who could hear every word spoken. However, I did stay for the meeting. I am saddened by the decision that some of our board members supported. If we fail to fight for our causes we might as well lie down and allow other countries to rule us. Our country was founded on religious freedoms and Biblical principles.

We were discussing adults, who are not forced to participate, and the prayer opening our school board meeting. Any person in the board meetings not wishing to respect or believe in Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, may step outside or read a book during the prayer. As a Christian this would sadden me; however, it would not offend me. This is a freedom, and I believe it to be more constitutional than being forced to pray a prayer that is against your religious beliefs. Praying to any entity, or none at all, other than Christ is against my religious beliefs.

As a voting citizen of Pickens County, and mother of 3, I believe that we should continue to fight this battle. (By the way, all of my children are upset and disappointed by the vote as well.)
