The following is a post from October 11, 2012 that was discovered unpublished on The Liberty Monitor
October 2012 was a busy month and the story was skipped by accident. My apologies to readers.

A story that has made the local news has some questioning City Officials.

Recently, a couple moved into what can be termed "a fixer-upper home" in Liberty. After a short stay in the home, they found out that the home had been condemned by the City of Liberty.

The owner of the home, Easley County Councilwoman, Jennifer Willis says that she had no knowledge of the home being condemned.

Apparently, Duke Power didn't get the memo either as they were providing power to the residence.

The issue becomes even more confounded when it was discovered that the home was condemned in May of 2012 and that The City of Liberty was also providing water and sewer service to the residence.

[UPDATE]

The house, located on Tillman St in Liberty, was inspected by Building Official, Richard Davidson and found to have multiple electrical issues. The problems were fixed and the residents who were occupying the home were evicted for being several months behind on their rent.

Many indicate that the public relations that the incident gave the City was very unfavorable.

The house also had a hole in the side due to an earlier fire. I find it odd that the councilwoman would rent a house in that shape, or even be allowed to. The hole was there during the span if two different tennants...

County Councilwoman Willis is known for being a slumlord and owning degraded properties purchased at tax sales.

Typical.
