This seems to be the subject of many people's facebook updates and quips about life lately ~ especially in regards to keeping prayer in schools.
Ecclesiastes 7:10
"Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions."I think this passage in Ecclesiastes asks us to not be as ignorant as we once were.
I refer to this verse …
II Peter 2:21
"It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on to them."We should be thankful we are older, wiser, and hopefully more respected because we are. Hopefully we've learned from our mistakes … and our successes.
Back when we were younger, we and the world faced different problems … some of these problems were probably solved. Some (possibly all) were solved by answered prayers.
Instead of asking God to bring back the "Good Ole Days" … maybe we should ask if he would please continue to solve our current problems.
